Risk matrix
PowerA grid of three to five ordered likelihood rows by three to five ordered impact columns, each cell washed in the tone of its supplied rating from least to most severe. Keyed short-code markers sit in their assessed cells; an optional dashed arrow, straight or bowed around other markers, moves an entry to its expected cell after treatment. A register beside the grid lists every entry with its assessed rating and, when it moves, its residual rating, and a legend keys the ratings and marker kinds.

When to use it
Use to show where a set of risks, hazards or issues sits on a likelihood and impact scale and where treatment is expected to move them: programme and project risk registers, operational, security, compliance, supplier, health and safety or financial risk reviews. Ratings are supplied per cell, not computed from position. Not for numeric scatter data, for priority sorting of tasks (use a priority matrix), or for continuous heat values.
