When to use it
Use for mutually exclusive additive components of one common quantity across equally spaced supplied periods. Source order runs bottom to top. Absolute amounts remain absolute, with no 100% normalization. Front boundaries encode amounts and totals; uniform depth is schematic. Straight connections are the area-chart convention between observations, not additional observations or a forecast. Zero components and periods remain empty, including ending zeros.
