When to use it
For supplied daily activity over a compact actual date range: shipped orders, customer enquiries or campaign responses. Month boundaries and weekday positions use real calendar dates; color intensity follows one shared numeric domain. Known zero is explicitly shown as 0, missing or null observations as ?, and slots outside the date range or month stay blank. Unlike a period/slot calendar this is dated activity, not scheduled membership. Not for inferred zeros, time-of-day data, aggregated months or values with different units.
