Timeline: proportional date axis
MaxThree to ten dated events stand as vertical stems on a proportional calendar axis with year bands: each stem sits at its exact date and rises exactly to its amount above one shared zero, read against quiet value gridlines. Each head carries a measured card with the exact amount, label, optional description and date, placed above or beside it clear of every stem and card, or raised on a dotted leader. An optional pill shows the derived total.

When to use it
Use when both when and how much matter: funding rounds over a company's history, product launches with first-year revenue, major contracts won, grants or donations received. Spacing reflects elapsed time and height reflects size, so clusters and big jumps read at a glance. Not for negative amounts, dates known only to the month or year, amounts of different measures, or events without amounts (use a plain timeline).
